Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information collected during a visit, the reasons it is used, and the limited situations in which another party may receive it. By using Lawrence County Criminal History, you agree to the practices stated below.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. Lawrence County Criminal History does not retain or record those search terms on its own systems.

Messages and Contact Submissions

An email or other direct message may be kept long enough to respond and maintain the exchange. It remains within the operating team unless disclosure is required by law.

Data We Gather Automatically

Loading a page can cause servers to receive basic technical and usage details:

  • Page-view dates and timestamps
  • The referring website, when one is supplied
  • Pages viewed and approximate time spent on them
  • Device type and operating system
  • Browser name and version
  • The device's assigned IP address

Cookies and Analytics

Small files called cookies help measure how people move through the site, including popular pages and common exit points. Analytics providers combine that traffic into broader usage reports. A browser can block cookies, though parts of the website may work differently when it does.

What We Do With This Data

  • Routing a submitted search to the proper outside provider
  • Maintaining site availability and page speed
  • Finding and repairing technical problems
  • Understanding which pages are useful or need improvement
  • Displaying advertising that may reflect user interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

Lawrence County Criminal History does not operate, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to records kept by the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department, county courts, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, and Tennessee Sex Offender Registry. The site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor information is not compiled into consumer reports or third-party criminal files.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies operate the search boxes. Information submitted there is governed by the provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each provider chooses its retention and disclosure practices, which are outside our control. Read those terms before running a query.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to court portals, sheriff pages, Tennessee agencies, legal resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows a link, the destination's privacy rules apply. Review them before providing personal information.

Advertising providers may use their own systems to follow activity across websites and select targeted ads.

Who Might See Your Data

Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:

  • Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
  • Search partners processing a query submitted through their tool
  • Advertising networks serving ads on the pages
  • Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable, standard security measures are used to protect collected data. No internet system is entirely secure, however, so the site cannot guarantee that a breach will never occur.

Users Under 18

The website is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than eighteen. If a minor's data is identified, it can be requested for deletion.

Your Data Rights

Applicable privacy or consumer-protection law may add rights based on where a user lives. Tennessee's Public Records Act, T.C.A. §10-7-501 et seq., governs access to state and local government records, while T.C.A. §40-39-214 addresses disclosure of registry information. Those laws do not turn this private site into a government records custodian. At a minimum, a user may:

  • Request deletion of personal data we hold
  • Ask for access to information maintained about you
  • Seek correction of inaccurate information
  • Decline certain forms of data processing

Updates to This Policy

This policy may be revised. An updated version will be posted here and will carry a new effective date.
